Googol is a non-profit association, established in Parma in 1998. It was originally composed of five physicists from the Department of Physics of the University of Parma. Today it is composed of a group of people with different competences: physic and astronomy, biology and geology, nutrition and science food, mathematic and veterinary medicine. Googol’s primary aim is to promote scientific and technological culture for the general public, with special attention to children. It develops, organizes and manages activities directed to make science exciting and accessible to everyone, by looking at the world of science in a free, imaginative and creative way. Googol focuses on new methods that allow people to make discoveries for themselves through hands-on activities and workshops. Googol has participated in national and international events, such as Genova Science Festival, Mondadori Junior Festival, ESOF and many more. It has organized the first editions of Orgosolo Science Festival (Sardinia) and Torrechiara Festival (near Parma). It has developed partnership with Universities, museums and other research and cultural institutions in local and national projects. Googol works with schools offering outreach courses and educational activities for children and teachers. Googol is a member of ECSITE, the European network of Science Centres and Museums.
